A new Setaon series: Setaon Selection Music Door
This series features outstanding performers recommended by Setaon and presents concerts we believe are not to be missed, organized in the hope that they will open the door to new musical experiences. The inaugural concert will feature the Tokyo Sextet!
The Tokyo Sextet is a dream ensemble of world-class wind players and a pianist. Its unique instrumentation sets it apart from ensembles of similar instruments, such as string quartets. The six musicians produce sound in five different ways (through air vibration, double-reed instruments, single-reed instruments, lip vibration, and hammers striking strings). This combination creates a colorful, richly layered sound that belies the ensemble’s small size.
The ensemble also commissions arrangements created exclusively for its members, continually expanding its repertoire. This program features The Nutcracker and Peter and the Wolf, both works that can also be enjoyed for their storytelling. Joining the ensemble is mezzo-soprano Mutsumi Hatano, renowned for both her singing and narration.
Experience the extraordinary performances of these outstanding musicians!
